Jalen Hurts & A.J. Brown Restore Connection During Speculation-Filled Week
A question lingered before their matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers – were there cracks in the relationship between Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown and quarterback Jalen Hurts? There had to be at least that much to it, that was the story being told.
Eagles linebacker Brandon Graham had hinted to tension between the two earlier in the week, saying his relationship with Johnson might be a bit strained. Brown’s frustrations had began to show when he wasn’t used to breaking up the Eagles’ passing game this season. The situation was ripe for conflict after Brown followed a lackluster showing in last week’s win over the Carolina Panthers with four catches for 43 yards.
But any speculation of on going issues between Brown and Hurts was extinguished in dramatic and entertaining fashion. During Sunday’s game the two stars appeared to bury the hatchet and sealed the renewed connection with a well executed dance celebration.
Hurts hooked up with Brown for 5-yard touchdown late in the first quarter. While the score alone was encouraging, their synchronized dance moves afterward sent a clear message: Things are a go in the Eagles’ camp. Even Fox Sports commentator Kevin Burkhardt noted the pair were doing the iconic ‘Rollin’ with Kid ‘n Play’ dance, and that was a playful, united thing to do for Philly fans.
They performed on the field well. Brown and Hurts torched the Steelers’ defense with Brown catching eight for 110 yards and a score. Their relationship is back on track and instead of dwelling on any off field drama, it’s safe to say this is about dismantling these opposing defenses.
This may be bad news for the rest of the NFL. Having reunited Hurts-Brown is a force to be reckoned with.
