Clearly, third graders in Missouri have redone the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer story, with changes – they have replaced Rudolph with Patrick Mahomes.
Well and truly festive season has begun and the sound of Christmas jingles can be easily heard around the corner. New favorite local carols include the ninety nine, the first noel, o holy night, silent night, O come O come Emmanuel, and a Decembers list favorite, Santa Clause is coming to Town. Among these they include; Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, a cheerful tune that became popular all of the sudden. As it maybe easier said than done, with this piece of music being so popular, there is actually an amazing Missouri third-grade performance that I bet you are yet to listen to.
At Cornerstone Elementary School located in Excelsior Springs, MO a set of third graders decided to perform a few holiday songs for their parents. They were to perform the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer song but changed how they would approach the song performance entirely. Rather than having the song to be sung for Rudolph, they changed the lyrics to be sung for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
That is quite contradictory on how a song about a reindeer would end up becoming one for an NFL star? But as these creative children showed it was made possible bringing in smiles of the audience through creativity.
The new version of the song received many smiles for the crowd as well as the indication of the holiday and home town spirit. Although Patrick Mahomes is a player dominating in today’s media, one cannot help but applaud the students for their efforts in the performance and energy they put in creating it.
Originally proposed by the Cornerstone’s music teacher Holly Deleon, the exercise stemmed from the desire to get through to the boys about the music program. “I said to myself, ‘What can I possibly do to entice these boys to have an interest in music program?’’
The result? Anything from a theology professor in Kansas City, but a Mahomes – themed Christmas carol that’s likely to be the highlight of people’s December.
