Obsessive Fan Pleads Guilty to Stalking UConn Basketball Star Paige Bueckers

Oregon man has confessed to stalking the UConn basketball star, Paige Bueckers, after an event in August.

As mentioned by the Associated Press, a 40-year-old man named Robert Cole Parmalee was knocking about a highway near Hartford’s Bradley International Airport in September. When confronted by a state police officer, Parmalee said he was visiting Bueckers and said he planned to marry her.

An additional research that was conducted led to discover that Parmalee had a warrant arrest for his involvement in arson. He was arrested and during the time of his arrest police claim that he had an engagement ring and lingerie on him.

Since June, Parmalee had been messaging UConn staff on social media platforms and emailing them his desire to wed Bueckers. It was not until then that the messages sent by him on the Internet were not considered a crime, However the self-complacent raising of his profile over the time changed from bad to worse. Just his presence in connecticut; his comments; and items he had placed made the issue of stalking far worse.

Parmalee, as part of his plea bargain, was simply given a one-year suspended sentence, along with three years probation. He is not allowed to come within 50 feet of Connecticut or enter any arena, hotel or practice facility connected with the Huskies women basketball team. Also, the WNBA has prohibited him from attending any of its games and practices sessions anywhere in the country.

The court also granted a protective order against Parmalee from September 16, 2023 through early January, 2064. It means that he must follow through mental health treatments and advice as part of the agreement.

On a contrasting note, Paige Bueckers is 20 years old and has features in the senior season of the Huskies and has scored over 20 points in her first 11 games.
